Welcoming the Next Generation of Artists
Since 2018, The Nelson & District Arts Council has partnered with the Nelson Youth Arts Action Network to offer a youth arts program each summer. Youth are mentored by a professional artist to gain new artistic skills and realize their group’s artistic vision.
Under the guidance of an artist mentor, youth collaborate in creating a mural from design to completion. Through this program, emerging youth artists learn about all the stages of a major arts project, including design concepts, material selection, safety, and networking.
