We are hiring a summer role for 2026!
The Administrative Assistant and Assistant Marketing Coordinator will play a vital role in the planning and execution of the Nelson International Mural Festival, supporting all aspects of event coordination, artist relations, and logistics. This position requires a proactive, organized, and flexible individual who is passionate about community arts and enjoys working in a dynamic environment. This is a full-time, in-person, 8-week position in Nelson, BC.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing and Promotion:
-Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies for NDAC programs and events, including the Nelson International Mural Festival and ArtWalk.
-Create content for all social media platforms, ensuring sponsorship obligations are met with proper acknowledgment.
-Update website content and create individual artist pages for the mural festival website.
-Distribute promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and signage.
-Attend local events on behalf of NDAC to build visibility and community relationships.
-Support membership drives and manage sponsorship benefits, including handwritten thank-you cards for sponsors.
-Forward bills and invoices to the Executive Director for approval and payment.
Event Coordination:
-Assist with planning and coordinating all NDAC summer activities, including ArtWalk and the Nelson International Mural Festival.
-Manage muralist logistics, including accommodations, contracts, and cultural protocol considerations.
-Ensure all sponsorship commitments are fulfilled.
-Support NDAC events by distributing materials, coordinating donation boxes, and maintaining a presence at weekend and evening activities as required.
Artist Liaison:
-Act as the primary liaison for artists, ensuring clear communication regarding contracts, schedules, and cultural protocols.
-Interview each muralist hired for the mural festival.
-Support the creation of muralist packages, ensuring all necessary information and materials are provided.
Administrative Support:
-Maintain open communication with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff, and contractors through regular updates.
-Archive NDAC historical photographs and maintain an organized Google Drive for activity records.
-Review NDAC bylaws for societies compliance.
-Develop working relationships with partnering organizations and foster collaboration.
Sponsorship Development:
-Secure minor sponsorships and assist in the creation of sponsorship packages.
-Ensure all sponsorship agreements are upheld, including acknowledgments on social media.
Other Duties:
-Provide general administrative support as needed, including other related tasks as determined by the Board of Directors.
-Assist with any additional NDAC programming and activities to ensure organizational goals are met.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Hours and Compensation
This is a full-time, Canada Summer Jobs position.
Start date: June 19, 2026.
Compensation: Wage is $21.50/hour
Hours: 35 hours per week, for a period of 8 weeks.
