About the workshop:
Discover (or rediscover!) the joy of singing in rounds at this one-hour community workshop for singers of every experience level. A round is one of music’s simplest and most magical forms – everyone sings the same melody, but each group begins at a different time to create beautiful harmonies as parts overlap.
Led by singer, choir director, and community music facilitator Allison Girvan, this welcoming workshop invites participants to experience the power of singing together in a time when so much seems to pull us apart.
No music reading required. Just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity! And maybe a friend or family member. Or two. Or three.

About the facilitator:
Allison has spent decades creating spaces where people of diverse backgrounds and musical experience can find belonging through singing. She directs community choirs, leads large-scale participatory singing events and human soundscapes, and teaches voice at Selkirk College, Her work has been recognized internationally, including through her inclusion as a research subject in Wilfrid Laurier University’s pilot study exploring the skills needed to lead community music-making across complex sociocultural differences, and as a featured case study interviewee in Australian author Melissa Forbes’ 2026 book, Making Music That Matters: Music Leadership for Social Health.
