Mural Making – Nelson Mural Fest Workshop

Bring your sketchbooks and some basic drawing supplies or ipad to explore mural design possibilities and creative approaches to mural design. This session will include discussion, information and individual and hands on drawing activities.

About the instructor: Amber Santos is an artist, art educator and curator. In her art practice she explores themes of identity, land and belonging, drawing on her experience as a German Canadian and Anishanaabe and Metís person. She explores what it means to be rooted and uprooted as a third generation immigrant and an Indigenous person reclaiming and practising culture, while raising a family. She has over 20 years experience as an artist with various commissions, residencies, solo and group exhibitions and publications. Amber is a BC certified teacher and has been working with the SelfDesign Learning Community for 15 years. She designs online art experiences and teaches at the Home Learners Network. She has facilitated many youth and group mural and art projects in her community. She has sat on juries for funders and is the co-Founder and mural curator of the Nelson International Mural Festival.
