Jaymie Johnson is an artist whose work spans drawing, printmaking, installation, and community-engagement.
Jaymie studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and Emily Carr University of Art + Design where she received her BFA in 2015. She has painted community-engaged murals throughout the Lower Mainland, and exhibited her drawings, woodblock prints, and public art installations throughout BC.
Jaymie’s practice is an investigation of our relationship to place and the ecosystems that we belong to and participate in. Her current visual work integrates humans into the fabric of a landscape, not absent nor primary subject, but as witness to the movement of plants, rock, wind, and water.
Jaymie is based in her hometown of Nelson, BC, on the unceded territories of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa, and Syilx, where she is grateful to play and create.
