Nicole Charlwood

she/her

Vice Chair

Nicole is a community organizer with a deep appreciation for the power of the arts to connect, inspire, and transform people of all ages. A proud participant in the DanceFusion Showcase and organizer of the Nelson Pride Flash Mob, she believes that no community brings people together quite like the arts. You’ll often find her lending her voice in the back row of a local choir.
Charlwood brings over 13 years of political organizing experience to the Arts Council, including roles as an MLA candidate and City Councillor in Nelson. She also brings more than 20 years of board governance experience to sectors ranging from independent arts education and watershed protection to local infrastructure projects, such as the Taghum Footbridge.
As a past small business owner in the tourism sector, Nicole has a firsthand understanding of how artists enrich our communities both culturally and economically.
“I’m committed to supporting the creative voices that have helped define and uplift my life.”
