This season has brought many new and exciting changes in Rheagan’s life. She recently completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts, moved to the Kootenays, and joined the Nelson District Arts Council team as the Assistant Mural Coordinator this summer, and now works as the Assistant Executive Director. In this role, she supports the Nelson and District Arts Council’s programs and events, working closely with staff, artists, and community partners. Her responsibilities include assisting with program and event coordination, liaising with local artists, providing on-the-ground event support, and managing a range of administrative duties. Rheagan is thrilled to be part of this amazing team and to contribute to the vibrant arts scene in Nelson.
When Rheagan isn’t painting or writing, she can usually be found labouring over the hundreds of weeds in her garden or exploring new ways to capture the world through film photography. She loves the tactile, thoughtful process of working with film and enjoys how it forces her to slow down and practice delayed gratification – especially when it comes to getting film developed (it can take a while).
Rheagan deeply values community, connection, and empathy – qualities that lie at the core of the art world. She finds great joy in investing in relationships and is always eager to jump into creative opportunities that foster collaboration and inspiration. Growing up in the ever-busy and expanding Lower Mainland, being surrounded by both serene natural beauty and fellow creatives feels like a breath of fresh air for Rheagan. For her, being part of a supportive artistic community is both fulfilling and energizing.
