TAGHUM COMMUNITY HALL

The bright & beautiful, renovated Taghum Hall, located along the shores of the Kootenay River, 10 km. west of Nelson, is the cultural cornerstone for the Taghum, Blewett, Beasley and surrounding areas. The hall is operated by a community-based volunteer Board that works miracles with limited resources. With the help of volunteers and supporters from the community the hall hosts vibrant community programming of special events, weekly activities, classes, concerts and markets.

The hall was built in the early 1950s, with volunteer labour, from salvaged buildings from the Lemon Creek Japanese Internment Camp. Over the years, the hall served as a venue for weddings, funerals, meetings, voting, dinners, and dances. Improvements were made gradually budgets over time and then gutted and renovated in 2014 – 2016. The new hall is stunning and enjoys vistas out over the river in two directions.

In this wonderful space the Taghum Hall Board runs or supports the following:

Markets such as the Saturday Winter markets, the Fall Harvest Festival, and a Spring Community Yard Sale
Weekly events like Bridge, Knit Club, Texas Hold ‘Em evenings, Yoga, Tai Chi, Water Colour group, and more
Music Concerts – fantastic musical events with performers from all over Canada
Kids events: Creative Spaces Summer Arts Camp, the Haghum School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Youth Pizza Party
Special events: Taghum Country Christmas party, Mother’s Day Brunch, Robbie Burns Day Dinner
Plus providing a venue for meetings and public forums on social and community issues, workshops, and book launches.
It’s a bustling place. Everyone is welcome and supporting memberships are available for $25 annually.
