Sammy Jade

she/her

Sammy Jade is a multidisciplinary artist whose creativity flows through many forms. She expresses her love of life through voice and movement in music, and through her hands in the art of weaving. She has contributed soundscapes to art exhibitions and has been performing on stage since childhood. She co‑founded Clutch, a flagship leadership program for young Filipinx creatives run by the Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts and Culture in Toronto. In 2008, Sammy was featured in the Luminato Festival’s Toronto’s Mille Femmes, a tribute to 1,000 artistic, creative, and inspiring women from the city and their protégés—women who embody Toronto’s passion and cultural heritage.

Now based in the Kootenays, Sammy Jade continues to wear many hats as a mother, teacher, street dance educator, and cultural bearer. She finds joy in connecting with community and remains inspired to shake things up through an anti-oppressive framework, co‑create new possibilities, and keep imagination at the heart of all she does.
