ArtWalk 2010 is now officially been extended by two weeks!  The event will run a full six weeks, and will feature exciting venues along Baker, Vernon and Victoria Streets.

Extension to Artist Applications Deadline—
applications being accepted until May 7th!

NDAC will be accepting mail-in applications from artists until deadline for submissions is Friday, May 7th, 2010!  But don’t delay.  Get your application in now!

All accepted artists will be notified of their status after May 7th, 2010.

Information on all the exciting changes to ArtWalk, submission guidelines and application information is available on our website at ndac.ca or by emailing info@ndac.ca.

We are also recruiting volunteer committee members – If you would like to help shape the face of Arts in Nelson and Area, please show up for the AGM.

AGM starts at 7:00 sharp (please show up early)

Reception (licensed) starts at 8:00 pm – Featuring live music by Darcy Hula and Guests

Even if you can’t attend the AGM, be sure to join us at the reception to meet and mingle with fellow members of the artistic and cultural community.

This reception is the first of what will be regular NDAC-sponsored social evenings where artists of all kinds can meet to socialize and network.

Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served at the reception. Wine and beer will be available for a nominal cost at the cash bar.

President’s Message

‘Challenge and Change’

Dear NDAC Member,

As an actor, I usually spend more time being directed than doing the directing myself. But in my six months of being president of Nelson & District Arts Council, I’ve found myself leading both the organisation I value and its hard-working Board through some unexpected trials. And to date, the experience has been exciting, to say the least.

Challenges like the recent funding cuts which led to the loss of our office space and staff person have highlighted to us how important it is for any organisation to be flexible and inventive in the ways that it fulfills its mission. And that is why NDAC is seizing the opportunity, during this time of change, to evolve as an organisation so that we can serve our fellow artists in new and effective ways. To hear more about NDAC’s evolution, I invite you to attend the Annual General Meeting and Reception on Monday, April 19th, 2010. Details for the event are below. And be sure to bring a friend.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say that now, more than ever, NDAC is grateful for the volunteers whose efforts are making ArtWalk 2010 and our other dreams for our artistic and cultural community a reality.
