NELSON AND DISTRICT ARTS COUNCIL WILL ONCE AGAIN BE PRODUCING
The Annual
KOOTENAY LITERARY COMPETITION
This popular event allows writers share their work and compete for prizes. .
The dates for the Literary Competition have been changed. It will now take place the weekend of November 13/14/15 to coincide with the BC Federation of Writers retreat in Ymir, BC. There will be an awards event November 27th at Oxygen art center, including a reception for the winners, persentation of awards and a reading of winning entries. Registrants will receive an email from the Arts Council office outlining the parameters of the competition, as well as this year’s theme. Manuscripts should be emailed back to the Arts Council. A team of jurors will decide on the first and second place winners in each of the following categories: Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry, and Youth Writing. This latter category is open to all youth from the age of 12 to 18, and the young writers can choose to write in any of the three categories.
A cash award for first and second place will also be handed out at that time ($200 for the winner in each category and $100 for second place in each category).
