The Kootenay Artisans Market is both a marketplace, contributing to the economic impact of the cultural sector, as well as an opportunity for an exhibition of fine art and crafts and networking between artisans and the public. Artisans come from throughout the Kootenay region to participate. This juried fair is considered to be the largest of its kind in the West Kootenay region, and many artisans make a point to schedule this event in their circuit of the larger market fairs in urban areas.
The Kootenay Artisans Market is a showcase and sale of the finest local arts and crafts. This is a juried event exhibiting only original, handcrafted work.
This year the Nelson and District Arts Council will be hosting this exciting, family friendly event on the weekend of October 23, 24 and 25th. to take advantage of beautiful fall weather and also to fill a void in the activities in the Nelson area in the shoulder season between summer and Christmas.
In addition to the sale there will be entertainment, children’s activities and top quality food from the Lakeside Prestige Resort.
Kootenay Artisans Market is the longest running cultural event currently taking place in the City of Nelson.
There will be a small admission charge of $2.00 per person / children 12 and under free. This includes all performances, entertainment and goodies.
